Jin Shin Jyutsu promotes relaxing and harmonizing specific disharmonies that can arise in the body from any illnesses, living out of harmful emotions, from environmental effects, from genetic/DNA effects, from stress, or for simply wishing to actively maintain health, harmony, and well being! I am available to give Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions for a hour for adults and teenagers. For children under the age of ten years old, I give sessions for 30 minutes sessions plus 15 minutes of Self Help.
Nicole Elyce Barnes
Co-Director for New Horizons Latin Dance Socials and Community Event Organizer
Nicole Elyce Barnes is a Louisville, Kentucky native. She began Latin dance in late 2013. After quickly falling in love with the Latin dance scene in 2015, she was asked to join a local group of Rueda de Casino performers. They are “The Ville Casineras,” an all-female team that choreographs and performs routines around Louisville and the surrounding Midwest. Currently, she and a few of her teammates are working towards becoming certified in the MCC curriculum which includes the theory and history of Casino dancing, methodology, and technique.
Nicole is committed to the long-term goal of making connections beyond the dance floor; helping to cultivate a community of support, positivity, acceptance, and the love of dance.
Nicole and Rachel Bucio Grote partnered together in June of 2018 to bring together their love of dance, and supporting the communities of Louisville to bring “New” Horizons Latin Dance Social. These socials include a featured Instructor that teaches a hour Latin dance lesson, followed by many hours of amazing social dancing!
If you have any desire to get more connected to Louisville’s Latin Dance community, feel free to reach out to Nicole, she can help you get there!

HDT's Dance & Wellness Outreach: Classes & Performances
Horizons Dance Theatre teaches & performs for community groups and events for seniors with various mobility needs, individuals with adaptive needs, and elementary through high school students around Louisville wherever there is a need to inspire and uplift students to bring out the artist in themselves!
We believe dance brings a compassionate, humble connection of ourselves out into the world for bettering life!
Interested students, who would like to be part of our local dance & wellness outreach program, should talk with their teacher to arrange extra teaching practice times and performance schedules. This is also a great way to participate in service hours for elementary, middle school, or high school service work in the community!
Our Class Outreach Program:
For the 2018-2019 dance school year, we have enjoyed serving: Masonic Homes (Life Enrichment Department Directed by: Courtney Martin Whittaker), Nativity Academy (Roni Witherspoon), and Dreams With Wings (Jenifer Frommeyer, and Carolyn Bunton).
For the 2017-2018 dance school year, we enjoyed serving: Masonic Homes, Nativity Academy after school EEP program for 5th-8th grade, and St. Francis of Assisi after school program (Program Directed by: Fred Whittaker)!
In February 2018, Dawson Orman Education Center (Program directed by: Mary Beth Stevens, and Lindsey Cain) gave HDT's Dance & Wellness Outreach program the honor to be selected for their monthly guest artist teacher grant to serve preschool children ages 3-5 years old at Dawson Orman Education Center (JCPS Preschool)! Ms. Rachel enjoyed teaching pre-ballet with creative movement dance classes to five classrooms weekly. Each week the focus was on a new creative movement developmental dance skill(s), which includes the joy of props, music, stories, and more. Our outreach program was welcomed back on the same grant the following year in March & April of 2019!
On March 7, 2018, and May 30, 2018 (American Senior Celebration month) Highlands Community Ministries (Program directed by: Danah Smith) invited us to give a two hour guest artist dance & wellness class for the lovely individuals HCM serves for ages 50 and older!
In March 2018, Dreams With Wings welcomed HDT's Dance & Wellness Outreach program to offer two monthly dance classes for adults at Dreams With Wings! This program went on through Summer 2019! Currently our program at Dreams With Wings is not able to run due to Ms. Rachel's director duty life changes. We hope to be back at another point, as we greatly appreciate the relationship with Dreams With Wings, as well as with all our outreach locations!
In April & May, 2018, Nazareth Clifton Nursing Home (formerly known as Sacred Heart Nursing Home) invited HDT's Dance & Wellness Outreach program to begin serving their residents with a monthly dance class!
On April 9, 2018, Kim Pirog, with Side by Side Studio off Frankfort Avenue, is going to be offering a special guest artist paint with music and movement class to Sally's Garden residents at Masonic Home. This class was inspired by our Dance Mom Kim, after sharing our interests for joining these art forms in a class...
On May 30, 2018, Highlands Community Ministries has invited us to teach a dance class in honor & celebration of American's Senior Celebration month!
From June 11 - 14, 2018, Side by Side Studio invited Horizons Dance Theatre's dance outreach creative movement classes to be part of their Children's Nature & Animal Camp from 10am to 10:45am on Monday - Thursday morning! It was a joy to use movement and dance to tell stories, and teach about nature and animals in an interactive way with visual arts! Thank you dearly to Side by Side Studio's Director: Kim Pirog, for having us along for this opportunity.
Our Performance Outreach Program:
Spring Semester 2018: A number of our dance school students performed for Masonic Homes residents on March 24, and April 21. These particular residents are facing Dementia and Alzheimer. It's incredible to see how a dance and music class helps these patients, let alone the joy of a children's dance performance. This is a great service in the community to offer dance performances to others who may not have the accessibility to otherwise see and participate in live dance, music, theatre, or even visual art presentations and performances, and classes!
Spring 2019, We were invited back to perform for Masonic Homes' Sam Swope Care Center residents on April 13, 2019.
Our Summer Class Outreach Program:
For Summer 2018, Our Dance & Wellness Outreach program has been serving Dreams With Wings, Masonic Homes, and Nazareth Clifton Nursing Home!
Thank you to everyone who makes Horizons Dance Theatre's Dance & Wellness Outreach Program possible at each facility that supports us to come serve YOU! Our program is adapted to serve each place we go specifically for the needs and goals of each group and individual we serve!
